Picture Counting Sticks

Common Core Standards:
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.A.3 Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).

Targeted Needs of Student:
Counting 1-10 or 10-20, visual representation, hands on numbers

Goal:
Representing counting to the numbers 10 or 20 using visual representation

Materials Needed:


1.      Numbered popsicle sticks with picture on them
2.      Sandwich bags to group popsicle sets together




Explanation/Summary:
Students will use one set of picture sticks during centers or individually. They will put the sticks in order based on the way the picture goes and by the numbers at the top the sticks. The picture on the picture stick can vary from actual photos brought in by students or paintings by the students themselves.
