My Half Day Book

Introducing fractions, understanding the meaning of fractions and significance of fractions, connecting reading and daily life to mathematics

Goal:
To introduce the concept of fractions through literature

Explanation/Summary:
This book describes a boy waking up and finding that things are now in fractions instead of wholes. For instance, his hair is half shaved off and he is about to embark on fraction fun during school. Students can name the fractions on each page during a picture walk, they can color the fractions after the book is read, or other activities can be found on the book’s website.
