Word Perimeter

Targeted Needs of Student:
Working with non-standard units, finding area and perimeter of non-traditional shapes, using vocabulary in different ways

Goal:
Practicing finding perimeter and area

Materials Needed:


1.      Grid paper
2.      Markers
3.      Vocabulary words



Explanation/Summary:
Students will use vocabulary words to practice area and perimeter by writing vocabulary words on grid paper. Then, they will trace the perimeter of the word with marker and count the amount of units that they drew around the word. Then, they will count how many squares the word takes up to determine area.
