What Spooks You?
Grade Level(s):  2nd Grade

Content Area:                                                                        Process Area:
Numbers and Operations                                           Problem-Solving
Algebra                                                           Reasoning and Proof
Geometry                                                                    Communication
Measurement                                                             Representation
Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability                    Connections

Common Core Standards:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.MD.D.10: Draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories. Solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems1 using information presented in a bar graph.

Targeted Needs of Student:
Surveying data, tallying responses, making a bar graph based on data, analyzing bar graph using mathematical concepts such as >, < and =, making a pie graph to show data

Goal:
To provide students with practice gathering and analyzing data

Materials Needed:

1.      Packet for each student

Explanation/Summary:
Students will ask other students what their favorite part of Halloween is and record the answers. Then, they will record this data on a bar graph and compare the answers using greater than, less than, and equal than vocabulary. Also they will make a pie graph to show the data as well.
