Common Core Standards:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.A.1: Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones.

Targeted Needs of Student:
Kinesthetic way of learning place value, expanding student knowledge from ones and tens to hundreds and thousands, understanding how to read numbers larger than two digits, using mathematical vocabulary

Goal:
To provide students with a kinesthetic way of reading numbers to four or five place values.

Materials Needed:


  1. Painter’s tape
  2. Sharpie permanent marker
  3. Paper and Scissors




Explanation/Summary:
The teacher will make a series of rectangles on the floor using the painters tape. After labeling each square as a different place, she will place numbers in the rectangles. The student will then step on each number as he reads the number.
