Remembering the steps for long division, tool to help students divide, easy mnemonic to use

Goal:

To provide students with a reference to use when using long division

Materials Needed:

1.      Bookmarks printed out

Explanation/Summary:

After learning the steps to divide, students will be given this bookmark to keep as a reference. The teacher will give one to each student and then explain each step. Each word in the phrase “Does McDonalds Sell Cheese Burgers” corresponds with a step in long division. Does – Divide, McDonalds – Multiply, Sell – Subtract, Cheese – Check your work, Burgers – Bring down and start over again.
